What are you looking at???

The cats love the bathroom rug. We often find them there like this, sharing a cosy moment. This photo is from yesterday evening. Truls seems to to ask himself what the heck I am doing there...

How about a bird for lunch, sis'?

The cats has one favourite window. It's in the kitchen and it gives them a perfect view of the bird seed houses in the garden. We fill the houses with bird seeds and the birds gather there during the morning hours for a nice lunch. I bet the cats could fancy a nice fat bird for lunch :-)

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve and the snow is falling. The kittens are playing upstairs and Bekka and Beverly are taking a nap. If I'm lucky I'll manage to prepare the christmas ham before our furry friends notice something's going on in the kitchen. If they notice ,hell is loose. That means Battus & Truls is jumping and climbing all over me. Bekka and Beverly don't know these tricks and I sure don't want them to learn either :-)
This is Bekka, December 17.

From all of us to all of you, a Merry Christmas!

Sweet dreams and Happy Birthday!

Well, what can I say... Xmas times are busy times for all of us. This is Truls taking a nap December 13. BTW, today is Truls' and Battus' 17 weeks birthday. Happy birthday darlings!

Beverly is having her paws full

Beverly has taken on the role of babysitter, older and wiser sister and happy playmate. Whenever Battus and Truls are up to something, she is there watching them to make sure they don't missbehave. And if she doesn't approve their behaviour she let's them know! She is lovely to watch :-)
And from time to time she joins them in their wrestling games. I think she loves having Battus and Truls around!
This photo of Beverly is from November 1.
She is a real beauty!

A gangster that loves to cuddle

This is Battus. When he's awake he is like glue. He hangs on to me where ever I go, whatever I do. Why? Well, he simply loves to cuddle :-) He purrs and purrs and wants to cuddle forever. He is just adorable! Who can resist such a cute guy? So I carry him around, on my arm or on my shoulder for as long as he likes. And we cuddle. And then, he turns into a gangster, running around like crazy, teasing Bekka and Beverly. What a guy!!!

Truls resting on the sofa

This is Truls on December 4, lying on the sofa. Both Bekka and Beverly have now fully accepted the kittens. They are like a real cat family now :-) Battus and Truls are having a ball, all day long. They are hanging here and there and everywhere. Life is great when you are a 16 weeks old kitten!

Introducing new kittens is not a walk in the park!

Bekka is still pissed off about her new playmates. Beverly, however, has come to a state of acceptance. Or so we'd like to believe. She followes the kittens, watches them closely and sometimes even join their games. But she still hits them with her front paws whenever she finds it necessary. Yesterday evening Battus slept close to Beverly for a long time. And she accepted that. That's a good sign. Let's hope for the best!

The new kittens have arrived!

Yesterday afternoon Battus and Truls moved in with us. They are 14 weeks old and simply adorable! Bekka is really pissed off and makes it very clear to us that this was not a good idea. Beverly seems to accept the kittens now. At least from a distance :-) So we have our hands full at the moment, trying our best to make everyone comfortable. I guess it will take some time before Bekka and Beverly will fully accept their new playmates. Hopefully I'll get some nice photoes soon of Battus and Truls. If they will stand still for one second...

"Let is snow, let it snow, let it snow..."

I know this is not a great photo but the story is so cute I just have to tell you. This is Bekka with her funnel, BTW.
The snow came, surprisingly as always, the other evening. Bekka and Beverly have never been out in the snow before. As Bekka had had her stitches removed we thought it would be OK for her to go out in the extended catyard. They went out to check out the white stuff. They thought it was very odd to start with. But soon they ran around, playing with the dancing snowflakes from the sky och jumping up and down in the snow. It was lovley to watch them enjoy their first snow:-)
In just one week there will be four furry friends in our home. I know Bekka and Beverly will love their new playmates.

It's probably allergy

Bekka has allergy of some kind. We know that now. So now the detective work starts. We don't know what she's allergic to. It could be the food. Medicine, funnel and a strict diet will be her treatment for the coming weeks. I hope she will get better soon. In just 1 1/2 weeks their new playmates will move in with us. That will be great fun!

This photo of Bekka is from September 27.

Strict diet and funnel for Bekka

Well, something is definately wrong with the template for this blog. I have no clue why the photos suddenly shows all over the column. Need to check it out.

About Bekka. We wnt to the vet last Friday as planned. But the vet didn't want to neuter her while this other process is ongoing in her body. It could be food allergy or something else that causes this terrible itch of hers. The itch is likley to be the reason for her wound on her head. But the vet did a biopsy on her. We'll get the answers next week. She is now beatuifully shaved and has a couple of stiches on her little head. We try to make her life as nice as possible despite the funnel 24/7 and allergy food - no ham, treats or anything else but the allergy food. Hang in there, beautiful Bekka. Things will be better!

This photo of Beverly was taken September 14.

Battus and Truls are now 11 weeks old. They are sooo cute :-)

Life in a funnel sucks

Poor Bekka! She thinks her life sucks right now. She got a nasty wound below her right ear and she just couldn't let it be. So the wound got worse. We went to the animal hospital nearby and they told us we need to do a biopsy on her when she's being neutered next week. This will be done to determine what causes the wound. Meanwhile she has to ware a plastic funnel, to protect the wound. She is really brave and tries to make the best of it. But she is not happy :-( So let's hope for better days to come soon!!! This photo is from a happy day though, October 20.

It's raining leaves

Our beautiful Bekka is a real wild cat. She loves being outdoors (in the cat yard). She isn't bothered by rain nor wind, her thick coat protects her. I've never seen that in a cat before. Now, as the autum is in full swing, she has discovered that it's raining leaves. And oh what fun it is! It rustles here and there and everywhere and she happily dances among the falling leaves.

Battus the King

Today I visited Battus and Truls. They are now 8 weeks old and very playful :-) They are so lovley, soft and cute as only kittens can be. This is Battus. He is named after three great Greek kings in the Greek colony of Cyrena (a very long time ago!). The three kings were greatly loved and appreciated by the people of Cyrena. The name Battus means King.

Today's catch: a gross earthworm

Someone said that taste differs. Well, let's say that Beverly and I don't share the same view on what's a great catch. Today she proudly brought into the kitchen her great catch: a big earthworm. It was great watching her, being all proud and curiuous about this new thing she'd catched. Sorry to say I didn't share her fascination and I surley don't like big fat earthworms on my kitchen floor. So I said thank you very much for the very nice gift and then I threw it away. Luckily she soon found something else to play with. So a happy ending for all, except for the poor earthworm.

Today we are going to visit Battus and Truls. That will be great :-)

Truls, 7 weeks old

This cute little fellow is Truls. He is one of the two new kittens that will move in with us later this autumn. On this photo he is seven weeks old. We are counting the days for when he and his brother Battus will arrive. That will be great!Thank you Linda at S*Englaflickorna for giving us your approval of using your photos :-)

Deworming - not a walk in the park!

Ever tried to give a cat medicine? If you have, then you know what experts they are in getting away. You have to be a master in deception to fool a cat. It is time for Bekka and Beverly to be dewormed. Beverly is stubborn. She simply refuses to be fooled by me. Any trick I may have up the sleeve she detects and we are back to square one. So today I tried another strategy. I've tried medicie as paste (Banminth), I put some on her paw and she licked it off right away (cats hate to get sticky stuff on their paws). So far so good... :-) Now it's Bekka's turn. Let's see how that turns out.
This photo of Beverly is from September 14.

What a bad weather!

Bekka is on heat again, for the third time.

Beverly is fed up with her "strange" behaviour by now. But I hope it will be over soon for this time. Today it's been raining cats and dogs and the winds have been quite strong. Bekka was really mad and frustrated by the weather. None of the young ladies liked it at all. They gave the cat yard a try but ran indoors very quickly. I have a strong feeling that Bekka is blaming me for the lousy weather.

2 + 2 = 4!

These two cute 6 weeks old boys will be joining our family in mid November - mid December. They are Norwegian Forest Cats, just like Bekka and Beverly. We hope they will be great friends with Bekka and Beverly and that the four of them will have a great life together. We've never had male cats before so this will be a new experiance. But from what we've heard male cats are cuddly and in all aspects a fantastic company. So we are really looking forward to bringing them home.

Next project: Extending the cat yard

Bekka and Beverly have had great fun today. They've been chasing a hazel nut all over the floor. And they've been watching us building the first step of an extension of their cat yard. And that was really fun :-) We want to give them the opportunity to really enjoy the autumn.
Now they are sleeping, charging their batteries for tonight.
This is Beverly, September 14. Isn't she a beauty!!!!

Speedy Gonsalez

This cute lady was a real Speedy Gonsalez this afternoon. She ran around the house and wrestled with everything and everyone. She even tried to wrestle down the vacuum cleaner as I was cleaning the house :-) I think it was out of pure joy as the sun was shining and it was a rather warm afternoon (about 15 degrees or so). Beverly loves the summer!

She's got a tan

This is Beverly, enjoying the September sun. She is still wild and crazy when we play and loves to cuddle in the morning. Beverly weighs 3160 grams. Her fur is lovley and I am sure she would do great in a cat show. Her fur is a bit brownish on the tip of her mouth, tail and paws. Sabina, her breeder says it is a kind of permanent tan. And that makes sense. Beverly loves the sun :-)

Enjoying the sun

Today we have yet another beatuiful September's day. The sun is shining and, to Bekka och Beverly's amusement, the flies are up in the air again. They've been chasing flies all morning. In between, they seem to enjoy the sun.

Chasing the sun

Today was a beautiful autumn's day. Bekka and Beverly loved the afternoon sun. Especially Bekka loves to chase the sun. She can go on for ever and ever :-)

Young ladies taking a nap

Bekka is no longer on heat! It ended yesterday. She is quite tired now, sleeping and eating to catch up. Beverly seems to be very pleased that the heat is over. She's running around and playing like crazy :-)
The young ladies are now 8 months old. Bekka weighs almost 3,6 kilo and Beverly is slowly getting close to 3,2 kilo.

Still on heat

Although we were disappointed about not entering the show in Eskilstuna as planned, it was a good decision to stay home. To us, the needs and wellbeing of our cats always comes first! Bekka is still on heat and calls out loudly and persistantly for boys. I hope she will calm down soon, she needs some rest now and she needs to eat.
I have joined a cat club for Norwegian Forest Cats. By this I hope to learn more about these marvellous cats. And maybe we will enter a cat show this autumn or winter.

No show this weekend

Bekka is on heat for the first time and is calling all day and night for boys. She is really restless and a pain in the ass for her sister :-)
Due to this we cancelled the show. I don't want to keep Bekka in a small cage for many hours when she is as restless as she is now. I don't think it's fair to her or to Beverly. So we will try the show business another time. Of course I am disapointed. I did look forward to trying the show business, I really did. But we strongly believe that it was the best thing for Bekka to cancel this time. There will be other shows!

Brave Beverly endured the bath

Yesterday it was time for Beverly's bath. She was really brave and endured the procedure like a real lady. She didn't like it at all and she was very pleased when it was all over. The hair dryer didn't work for her either so I dried her with towels and then we cared for her fur together. Bekka waited for us outside. When Beverly and I were done Beverly was very tired and slept for the rest of the day. As you can see on the photo she found it very comfy lying close to her sister.
This morning I was happy to find the both of them playing in the shower like their baths never happened :-) Halleluja for the short memory!

Happy Sunday: yet another fight in the shower awaits

Today it is time for me to give Beverly a bath. I know she will put up a fight. She doesn't like water and is always very keen on keeping the distance when water is around.
Bekka and I had our practise round yesterday. The poor thing didn't like it at all. The bathing and scampooing was really bad but nothing compared to the hair dryer. She was screeming like I was trying to kill her. So I had to let her dry by her self. No hair dryers for Bekka! But the most important thing is that she seems sane and happy and doesn't hate me (I hope).

A new habit

Bekka has a new habit. She licks my face when I sleep. Of course I always wake up and try to, in a nice manner, get out of her reach. I guess she like to be social :-) Today I will give her her a bath. I can't say I look forward to it. It will give me loads of minus points and I will probably have to make up for it with lots of candy and ham for a long time.
My plan is to practise on Bekka in order to be a little bit prepared for tomorrow's fight with Beverly. A least Bekka finds the water element interesting. But her sister has made it very clear to me that she will not put any part of her furry body into the water. Ever. Basta!

Two weeks to go

In two weeks it is time for Bekka and Beverly to enter the International Cat Show in Eskilstuna. This will be their second time they enter a cat show. But to us it will be the first time. Next week I will give them a bath. I can't say I am looking forward to that. I think it's common knowledge that cats hate to get wet. And I guess Bekka and Beverly are no exception. So we will probably end up with a big girls fight :-(

It's raining again

August seems to be a very wet month:-( It's raining almost every day. Today we've had some sunshine and the cats loved it. But now it's raining again and Bekka got fed up and went to sleep upstairs. Beverly is still sleeping in the cat yard but my guess is that she will soon join her sister.

Joining the 3 kilo club

Beverly has now joined the 3 kilo club. Yesterday she weighed 3 kg and Bekka 3,4 kilo. The 400 gram gap between them seems to remain. Another good news is that Beverly doesn't seem to be bothered at all by the wasp sting.

Ouch! Stung by a wasp

Poor Beverly was stung by a wasp yesterday. We didn't see it happen but noticed that she ran away in full speed and seemed very irritated in the left front paw. She limped upstairs and went to bed. I examined her paw and leg carefully and checked on her on a regular basis during the afternoon. Luckily she seemed OK and the limping stopped after a couple of hours of sleep. But you'll never know about theese things. Like humans cats can get allergic reactions. I was stung myself the other week (for the first time) and I remember vividly the pain. So I could easily understand the pain she suffered. Luckily she is running around the house again, like nothing happened.

A nice cup of tea

Young Bekka Fenwick, 7 months now, sipped her first dropps of tea today. I had made myself a nice cup of herb tea. Bekka, curious as can be, found my cup and started to sip the tea. Luckily I saw her and took away the cup from her. She seemed to like it but I don't think it is the best cat drink :-)

Out of the water in a nano second

Yesterday we filled the "swimming pool" with water again (there was no point in adding more water to the catyard when it rained cats and dogs...). Bekka was very excited and jumped into the water with her two front legs. She splashed water all over me and Beverly. I didn't mind but Beverly did. As if that wasn't bad enough, Beverly slipped into the water a minute later. I've never seen a cat jump as fast out of the water as she did. She was out in a nano second.

How fun can a box be?

This is our beatiful Bekka (the photo os from yesterday). She had great fun today together with Beverly when they discovered a big empty box on the floor. They crawled in and out of the box for a long time. We made some wholes in the box and that was very popular :-)

Here comes the sun

Finally, after a week of intense raining,

Bekka loves her "swimming pool"

Bekka loves their "swimming pool". Every morning when I fill it up with fresh water she jumps out of joy and immediately starts to splash in the water. And every evening when I have poured out the water she grabs it by the edge and jumps into it. I lift it up to carry it away for the night but she doesn't mind. There she lies happily as I carry her accross the room :-)

It is still very hot during the days and Bekka & Beverly are really tired. They seek the coolest place and there they sleep until the cool evening breeze sweeps the place.
